HONEYCERAM®
HONEYCERAM® is arguably our most popular ceramic product and essential for exhaust gas purification. It is an insert to the catalytic converter and serves to neutralize the harmful substances found in vehicle exhaust. HONEYCERAM® is a powerful unit that is small enough to hold in your hand, yet has a surface area the size of two soccer fields. This is due to the honeycomb structure design that makes it possible to create large surfaces within very small spaces. Furthermore, thin, lightweight walls that are only 0.05 mm thick maximize exhaust purification efficiency. The thin walls also minimize loss of engine power. HONEYCERAM® is made using cordierite ceramics and demonstrates outstanding performance unimpaired by high temperature and sudden temperature changes accompanying vehicle exhaust.
Large-Size HONEYCERAM® (LSH)
Our large-size HONEYCERAM® (LSH) catalytic converter insert is made specifically for large diesel vehicles and equipment. We employ the same technology that we use in our original HONEYCERAM. The honeycomb structure provides maximum surface area where harmful substances found in vehicle exhaust are neutralized. This HONEYCERAM® model carries a catalyst that removes particulate matter (PM) as well as nitrogen oxide (NOx) from diesel exhaust emissions. Like its counterpart, it features outstanding performance that is not affected by high temperature and sudden temperature changes accompanying large diesel exhaust.
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) / Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPFs)
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs) eliminate particulate in the exhaust gas emitted from diesel automobiles. Lightweight cordierite filters are mainly used in trucks, buses, construction machinery, and other large vehicles. The more heat-resistant silicon carbide filters are used in passenger cars. NGK Insulators, Ltd. also offers the Gasoline Paritculate Filter (GPF), a dedicated filter for gasoline direct-injection engine.
NOx Sensors
Using zirconia (ZrO2) thick film technology, our NOx sensors were the world’s first sensors of its kind. As zirconia sensors, the products can be inserted directly into high-temperature exhaust gas. That means that the sensors can be attached directly to vehicle exhaust pipes, where they collect precise measurements of NOx concentration in exhaust gas for extended periods. Additionally, the sensor's digital communication feature is ideal for use with on-board exhaust gas diagnostic (OBD) systems.
