$17M Expansion for NGK Ceramics in Iredell County
NGK Ceramics plans to spend $17 million to build an international distribution center in Mooresville.
NGK will acquire 42 acres in Mooresville Business Park East for a 293,000 square-foot facility that will house finished goods and raw materials. It will also act as an international distribution center for raw materials.
According to the president of NGK Ceramics USA, Mr. Steve Dailey, the new warehouse would cut back on outsourcing across state lines. In an interview with Statesville Record & Land, he stated, “we’re right now in excess of over 200,000 square-feet of warehousing in Iredell County. We also have our finished goods going out to warehouses in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Camden, New Jersey; and Savannah, Georgia.”
“This project is to pull all of that back to the Mooresville area … (and) hopefully improve our customer service and the quality that we offer to our customers by having it local where we can manage it directly ourselves.” Dailey continued.
With 900 employees currently working at the main facility off Mazeppa Road, the new facility will create 10 additional logistics and warehouse positions. The new facility is projected to be completed by the end of 2019. It will be the 16th expansion for NGK Ceramics USA.
